Carry coloring book and crayons or "Let's Go Shoppin"

I made this small bag for Kenley to carry a colo book and crayons....But I can also see her using it and saying "Going Shoppin"  I hope she will like it.  (Haven't decided if it will be for Birthday or for Christmas.)

Kenley's apron

Kim bought a apron for Sophia,   I made a pattern off this apron.  Below is the apron that I sewed for my granddaughter for Christmas.  Kim wanted me to put tie strings at the top instead of the circle put it over your head like the one that she purchased.  Hope Kenley will like it.

New drapes for our travel trailer.

The patio door.... I did buy  a rod that I intend to fasten on the outside of the window covering and hang the drapes on the outside.  That way we can use the white slated patio window coverings that came with the trailer.  The way it is we cannot close the blinds that came with the trailer.
This one is behind the other bunk.... We fixed this bunk that Bud could sleep up front with me where it is warmer.....
Behind the couch and the east end of the bush out.
Now the back bedroom was a different story.   I put the shower curtain rod along the north end and covered it totally.  But since the push out walls are cold and he was constantly complaining I got cafe curtain rods....Made an extra set of drapes, and put them on the sides of the push outs.  So he has curtains on three sides of his head when he is in bed....  But he did tell me that it is not drafty anymore.  YAAAAAAA.

I got the curtains at Walmart. Some of them I had to cut in half since I didn't need 63" curtains...on the back of these curtains I put a flannel like backing and a piece of broadcloth.  This makes them very heavy.  They already were thermal lined. But by putting this extra lining and backing on the back. It makes it very, very thick, and the air does not come thru them.  Also they are room darkening so his bedroom is now very dark, since I took the drape that was on the patio door and hung it over the back door.   Should have no trouble sleeping in the middle of the day either.

I am very glad this project is done. Two Saturdays in a row I sat at the sewing machine.  My back and neck really don't like me setting sewing that long, So I am really grateful that these curtains are done. Now for putting the one up behind my bed and for putting the patio one up on the outside of the window casing.

Christmas 2011- Secret Pal Gift.

This is the 1918 vintage doily that I made in ecru for my secret pal at church for the Christmas gift.  Dec. 13, 2011 Friendship Company Christmas.

I surely do hope that Mrs. C.......    will like it.
I did post it on face book and she did tell me she thought it was beautiful.  hee,hee I am laughing. She has no idea it is for her.

Plastic canvas name

When Kim was young I made her name for her.  This is how I taught her how to spell her name.  She wanted a set for Kenley and this is what I came up with.  I thought they really turned out great.

New shop apron.

Last Friday when I went out back into the shop to see our shop man about something.... I remarked...You need a new apron....Bring me this one when you leave for the day and I will see what I can do.
I thought it was us ladies who normally fix everything with duct tape...

I took this one home with me so that I could measure and so I could also use the belt that was on it to put on a new one.
This is what I made on Friday night after I had done all our laundry and grocery shopping.  This morning he came in and had the leather pieces transferred over to this one.  With his handling sheet metal this will save his jeans from getting cut.  After I made this one he told me I didn't need to put the pockets on it....So the next one that I make will not have the pockets....We also need to find a big strip of leather to glue on the front of it all the way up so that it doesn't cut the fabric or his jeans when he handles all the sheet metal in making all the fittings for the duct work.

Basket of Kittens

This plastic canvas basket of kittens reminds me of my mother-in-law. When she decided to get rid of her cat collection I took this refrigerator decoration back. I had made it for her and had spend lots of time doing it. Now that she is no longer with us it will always remind me of her when I see it.

Blue bird of Happiness

Years ago I made two of these plastic canvas blue birds. I gave one to a little old lady in South Dakota and kept one for myself. It always reminds me of a bluebird of happiness when I see it. I have it on my refrigerator door to remind me to be happy in all things.

Blanket for Bria

Recently I was invited to a baby shower at our church for a close friend of mine's daughter-in-law. I called Nancy and ask which blanket colors that Diana would like for Bria.

Her answer was PINK....so she got the hot pink/purple combination blanket that I already had in my stash of baby things to give away.

The look on Diana's face as she pulled it out was so precious.

This baby girl is now two weeks old. And is facing some surgeries in the near future. May God be with them as they work on this little girls kidney and take the MRI of her brain. She is such a sweet baby.

Loving her nap on mother's shoulder.
Quoting her mother from my facebook page:
Bria will have to have surgery in a couple of weeks for her left kidney. We will also find out more about the fluid on the brain on March 15. I am putting my trust in God and letting go of what I cannot control or change. All I can do is pray and know that God has a plan for our little girl......
Will be keeping this special little girl in our thoughts and prayers along with her parents, two older brothers and grandparents and aunt.

My Christmas Mouse/Candle

This Christmas Candle and mouse peeping around the corner is a plastic canvas decoration that I display on my refrigerator.
It is about 14" x 14" if you measure the tallest and widest points.
It is probably my favorite Christmas decoration that I have made in plastic canvas.

No job too small.

Yesterday morning my boss ask if I could sew a patch on his daughters lab coat.
So Last night I spend an hour of my time sewing by hand. (I thought sewing it on by hand would turn out much nicer then if I tried sewing it on the sewing machine.

So I say - no job is too small. This was actully much easier to do then hemming of the jeans that I did a couple of weeks ago.

Two more aprons.

The above apron was made out of a piece of material that I found in my fabric box from making a diaper bag a number of years ago...I thought it looked like Easter So I made a apron out of it.

The apron below.....Well it has black stings and it is for Halloween but, I am debating about cross stitching a witch on the pocket. Have not decided yet if it will get something on the pockets yet or not.

Golf pictures

Recently I have been reminded of the cross stitch pictures that I made when we were still located in the old shop on Railroad Ave.

Both these pictures were made for Ron- Who recently had a total lung transplant last week.
When we moved to Franklin Street, Ron gave the 1st one to Larry which he has displayed in his office

On the bottom of this picture there are phone #'s of the local golf courses so that they could just glance at it when they want to call for Tee time.

This one is still here, but is not being displayed at this date. But since I don't think I have a photo of my work that I did, I dug it out of his closet and took this photo.

Michelle's picture.

A number of years ago I made this cross stitch picture for my friend Michelle.
Sunday I was reminded of it since she has it hanging on her wall.
I actually had forgotten that I had done it.

Cheaper by the dozen?

Wait---there weren't a dozen of them, just 10.
This morning at breakfast I was told that they wanted 10 aprons...4 right away.
So my yard became my sewing room today.

I set up my tables after I had spent some time computing how much material I would need to make them. I had measured one of the girls apron while there in the restaurant while she was wearing it. And since I had made the one she was wearing....back in Oct. I had a rough idea what lay in store for me.
SIX HOURS LATER---- I was just finishing up....and Man---that sewing room was hot today.
Guess next time I should move the mess inside where there is cooling. :)
All 10 of them ready to go to the restaurant to be used.
All black, but only two pockets instead of 3 (Thank you girls) Making those pockets are not easy.
Not exactly what I had planned on doing today. But, another job completed.

Granddaughter Kenley modeling her Mother's sweater set

Oct- 2008 I blogged about the sweater set that I made for Kimberly before she was born .
But there is nothing cutier then her daughter modeling that set for me.

Kenley, you are so stinkin cute in the set that I made for your mother. You model it well.
But, when your mother put them on line she called you her little head of lettuce.
Should we tell her she was the first head of lettuce in the family?

Boppy pillow cover

Last time we were in Normal to see Kenley, Kim & Clay we brought the material home that Kim had purchased for her second boppy pillow cover.

This is the first cover like this I have made.

When she gets it next week end I am sure she will look it over good and tell me where I should have done it differently. :) (But then when momma does something for you free, perhaps she will just use it and enjoy it).

Two Happy Little girls.

Earlier this summer I made a set of Plastic canvas paper dolls and they were mailed to Oklahoma..... The mother told me she was going to save them for Christmas.
So I e-mailed her and ask if I could have photos. Also ask for permission to use the photos on my blog...

These are the two photos she sent me....I think these photos speak for themselves.
I am sure these two little girls will play with these for a very long time.
I am so glad they enjoy them.

Upcoming Grandchild's quilt

<
My upcoming grandchild's quilt is done!!!!!

Binding is done, and I was even able to autograph it.

To go along with the quilt I was able to make a small pillow case for the travel size pillow that I got.
Merry Christmas today to my upcoming grandchild who will be arriving soon.

Gay's Apron for Granddaughter

Gay wanted a apron for her Granddaughter.
She loves tickets. And she could not find one. So, I offered to make her one.
Bud thought it was too big for a child, but Gay loved it.

Megan told me Audrey had a small doll, smaller then a cabbage patch, so I made her dollie one too.

Hope Audrey has tons of fun selling/giving away tickets.

Bunny made from old quilt and Mom's Amish dolls

The bunny on the right was made from an old quilt.

The Amish dolls are dolls my mother used to make out of socks.
One of the only craft projects I still have that my mother did for me.

New Eyes

A while back Kim ask me if I could repair her Mr. Froggies eyes. The whites were all dirty looking and the felt was torn. She wanted to wash him and use him in the nursery for our upcoming grandchild.

I took Mr. Froggie home with me on a Friday night that I was in Bloomington to pick up Bud at the airport. When I went to Walmart- the next day I forgot to get felt.
Then I saw something on line someone else had made and thought---why can't I crochet him some new eyes? I did a trial run and text it to her. But instead of giving him New Eyes I just covered his current eyes with new stuff. Like removing cataracts only in reverse.
I crocheted this covering and covered his eye then sewed it to the body.
Below is the final result.
Now he is all ready (Since Kim has washed him in the washer) he is all ready for a young child to carry him around by the legs just like she did when she was younger.

Waiting to meet our new mommies.

What will our new mommies Name us?

We have our bags all packed and ready to go. Great Grandma/Grandpa will deliver us to our new mommies---Probably at Thanksgiving time.

We are ready to go, but will rest until we get there. Because we know when we get there our new mommies - Zabryna & Charis will shower lots of lovin on us, and give us a good home. We are expecting to have a lot of fun with them!

P.S.
The Great Grandmother/Grandfather who got these dolls has been like a mother/father to me the past 6-7 years. They have been very gracious in watching our bird Paco for us when we go places. In appreciation of their helping us and not taking any payment, we wanted their great granddaughters to have a set of these to enjoy.

Zabryna & Charis We hope you have a great time playing with these dolls.

The California Raisins

Who remembers the California Raisins? My nephew totally loved them when he was young. In my recent visit to his room when I stopped to see them, I find that he still has the pictures that I made for him, years ago.
The center one is a bit blurred, but it does have his name on the side of it.
Chalk the blurr up to the fact that I was actually standing on his futon to take these photos.

Justin, I am so glad you are still enjoying these pictures after this many years.
Your Aunt Verna had forgotten all about them.

Repair job, lead to new one. Merry Christmas Amy.

Amy tore the corner of her apron, so I not only mended her current apron,
but made her a new one.
Here she is with her new apron.

Below I am displaying her apron. It doesn't show up on her like I would have liked, since they wear black tops also.

Nobody will steal her apron. It has her name on the back.

Many moons ago

Many, many years ago, I did this picture for my neice. Actually the boy, rock and sheep are stuffed with cotton from the back.
I had forgotten that I had done this when I was single (many, many moons ago), the last time I was at my neices I saw it hanging in the hallway.

I'm glad she is still enjoying this piece.
And how true on the saying..."The Lord Is My Shepherd!"

Thank you dear Jesus for everything you have done for me in the past!
