Cancer patient thoughts.

Last week when I was doing laundry there was a lady there doing her laundry and her sister's laundry. In speaking to her I discovered her sister had cancer in the throat area and was going to start chemo soon. So I decided I would make her some hats. Also decided to give her one of the prayer shawls I made. She is going to need to know there are people who do care. I was a fortunate one, I did not have to do chemo. So Nancy, these are for your sister, when I get back home this next week I will be calling you to meet me at the laundry so I can give them to you for your sister.

- Hope this lets her know that I hope she beats this cancer!

Not always good things

Sometimes when you make things and they look good and you are pleased with your work, it doesn't always stay that way.

It turned out looking good in March when I finished it, yet when I washed it, yikes! It went from a size. Single be to a king bed plus size.

There were big holes next to the ladder rungs of this Jacobs ladder bed spread. I was very unhappy with it. There was over $80 worth of yarn in it and not useable for what it was intended. Therefore on Wednesday night I started disassembling this product of many hours of labor.

After that evening and a full day of working on it. It was just a heap of balls ready to be used again.

I started making a scarf for starters. I do not know what all I shall make with this thread but eventually I shall have it all used up again!

Pies, pillowcases and repair job

Two vanilla crumb pies. Actually the first pie I have ever made, even if I cheated and bought the ready made crust. (Mom, it turned out pretty good even tho you never taught me how to make pies).

Two baseball pillow cases all done, ready to use.
Thanks Mom for teaching me how to sew!

And a repair job on a pant leg for Kenley.

ABC's

First I made all my letters out of all white. These are my stencils.

-
Since then I have made a number of sets from colored plastic canvas. Pink and purple for my granddaughter.
Red and blue for my grandson.
Multicolored for a friend of mine. And two other sets to mail to two other little ones.
Yep, I saved my stencils. Just in case I ever need the again. They were the. Hardest to do since I had to count on them. The rest? Well lay those stencils on colors plastic canvas and start snipping.

Neck scarf

Experimental.....I only did three rows instead of five like the one I saw. Three strands then braided together. Think I should have gone wider, but knew I didn't have enough yarn to make it wider. Would love to do it in a burgundy and make the strips wider to see how that would turn out.

A puppy I don't have to feed

Today I made a puppy to give away. One that the gal who gets him will not have to feed. If set in a warm spot he may even give off an aroma. Since he is made over soap.

Yesterday I was home alone in the morning so I made a hat. I thought it turned out pretty good even if he is not perfect.

Nubby dish cloths

Last week Katie gave me some cotton yarn and I was able to make some nubby dish cloths. The bottom one I was trying to learn the pattern so it isn't as nice as the top one that I gave to Katie since she had given me the yarn. Believe I may make more of these and try to sell them next 4th of July to help pay for the fireworks. The red one I finished last night went home with Mary.

Always morning somewhere

I made and had this counted cross stitch picture up at the old office. I was always saying good morning in the afternoon. And when people said anything I would reply but somewhere in the world it's Morning.

Eagles

The first Eagle that Bud got was this one

I did this needlepoint one for I'm. Then he collected them for a long time.

Later I made this one for him, both are stored in our shed.

Friends

How true. The way to a friends home is never far. I did this cross stitch picture years ago and gave it to my mother. When she died I got it back. I wish I had room to display it again.

When working on the shed the other day I found the bells that I had made a number of years ago. Do I keep them or throw them?

Afghan or bedspread?

Afghan or bedspread?
What started out as a afghan ended up being a bedspread size.
My niece told me that hers was huge, and I can agree with her. Hope if I ever want to do another one that I will go to Bud's and count stitches and not follow Sovilla's directions for a baby afghan or adult one.

It is big enough for him to wrap himself in and it should keep him nice and warm!

A while back on facebook I promised to make the first 5 people who commented on the post something homemade within the next year.  I have completed 3 of my five.
Below are the three doilies that I sent or gave away thus far.

Dollie Trowbridge from our church.  (Plus I am making another one like this to be sold at the mother/daughter auction next month.

This one---Pineapples and fans went to Shiela Kowing in Oregon.
And the broken star---one of my all time favorites went to Aline Conner in LA.

The other two people ---well one wanted to know why I wanted her address. She used to go to our church.... has never given me her new TN address. and the other has not responded to my text messages or facebook messages.   So until they do, they will not receive anything homemade from me at this time.
Since retiring I have done a lot of crocheting....Yes and across the years I have given many of these creations away to other people.  I love to crochet.  Try new patterns and new things.  I believe my next item to try may be a hat for a blogging friend of mine who is facing chem treatments.
